Design Philosphy

Ted Hood founded his design legacy in 1959 when he designed and built his first Robin. Robin was the first in a long line of successful yachts by the same name. Ted Hood’s philosophy remains the same, but with applications of the newest avant-guard technologies and systems. He’s built a name for himself designing both cruising and racing sailboats ranging from 26’ to 135’. Ted has further solidified his name in the industry by designing lines of jet boats and self-righting navy and patrol boats from 26’ to 65’. More recently launched are a line of fast, heavy displacement power cats that are extremely economical and provide huge accommodations.Ted is constantly striving to improve all aspects of his work using the newest technologies available - better performance, more space, more comfort, more practical and easy to use with the least amount of crew. Overall Ted Hood produces designs with flexibility and versatility not seen anywhere else in the world.
