90 Expedition Motor Yacht

The 90 Expedition Motor Yacht from Ted Hood Yacht Design

Ted Hood purposely designed the Expedition Yachts to provide the comfort and privacy of home. It is exceptionally easy to walk from area to area; there are four decks all level without steps. All have full headroom, wide doors and side decks. No turning sidewise to pass through doors or side decks. Ted Hood has designed the Expedition 90 for cruising and exploring the globe in safety, comfort, and luxury with friends and family occasionally sharing the joys of paradise in the owner’s fine custom home. The Expedition 90 has a luxurious Owner’s Suite on private upper deck and 3 guest staterooms with studies, all with ensuite bathrooms.

General Interior Walk Through
The flybridge has full controls for maneuvering, several seating/dining and sunning areas, a full bar that includes a sink with hot and cold water, an under-counter refrigerator with a gas grill. Aft of radar arch you have access to the upper aft deck which stores the folding crane and 18’ tender and water toys. A distinctive spiral staircase connects all four decks. Going down the spiral staircase leads to the exclusive privacy of the owner’s suite. The benefit of a spiral staircase is that the physical space for the stairs is less and they are safer in a sea way with less chance of falling.

The owner’s suite features a king sized bed, in a spacious cabin with a private outdoor deck either under the cover of the flybridge roof or aft in sun. The cabin has both an office nook with desk and file drawers and a seating area with table and chairs facing the sliding doors to the sun deck. On the starboard side is a changing room complete with cedar lined hanging closets, drawers, and vanity mirror and seat. Hers and His bathrooms with a common Jacuzzi bath/shower are forward of the changing room. Forward from the owner’s suite leads to the pilothouse. On the port side is a day head and wet locker. The pilothouse has all controls for yacht operation, two helm chairs, a large built-in table for four along with a raised seat and tables for two couples behind the helms. Port and starboard pilothouse doors lead to wing control stations for excellent docking and maneuvering visibility, and to the fore deck with seating and all anchoring equipment.

Main Deck
Head room 7 ft (2.13m)

Descending the spiral staircase to the main deck, to starboard is the galley that features luxury appointments which includes two U-Line under counter, fridge / freezers drawer units side by side, Fisher-Paykel dishwashers, trash compactor, six burner stove with oven, and convection microwave. Full-extension slides in galley drawers are mounted on roller bearing drawer slides and locked with push button lock and latch kits. Galley surfaces are Corian or granite. The galley has forward or aft location options.

The saloon features a dining room table that seats eight and is to port. The starboard side features a cocktail bar area. To port and aft, both sofa and a lounge table, with additional seating and opposite a 36” flat screen TV. There is a day head on the starboard side at the exit to the deck. Going aft from the saloon, exit through sliding glass doors to the aft deck and access to the swim platform and lazarette. There is additional seating there to enjoy a cocktail or outside dining convenient to the aft galley layout.

On the same main deck, going forward from the spiral staircase leads to the accommodation area; a super VIP stateroom in the bow, a full stateroom with king sized bed study area with desk and ensuite. Moving aft, there are port and starboard staterooms with twin beds. Both twin staterooms have separate heads and showers, both with sinks.

Lower Deck
Head room 6 ft 8inch (2.07m)

Access to the lower deck, engine room, and crew accommodations is by the staircase amidships or through the aft deck/door and stair to starboard.

As you go down to the lower accommodations you enter the lower accommodations and fifth guest state room or captain’s cabin. To port is the crew lounge with seating for 4 people with table and flat screen TV. The crew quarters also feature two twin cabins with their own head and separate showers.

Another watertight door leads to the engine compartment. The standard engines are twin Caterpillar 3406C 600BHP diesels for maneuverability offshore. This space includes two (2) x 24 kW generators, batteries, water-maker, fuel polishing / transfer system, stabilizer system, and all electrical component main power boards and shore power switch boards. There is also one workbench forward of the Generators, which provide storage space for spare parts and tools. From the engine room aft there is access to the after lazarette compartment through a watertight door. In the after compartment are steering gear components, battery charger, inverters, oil changing equipment, and dive compressor. From engine room to watertight bow thruster compartment, there is 6ft 8inch headroom for the complete length of ship and allows access to all equipment for easy service. No hatches needed from accommodations for service, watertight bulkheads and doors throughout lower accommodations
